I made this cool gothic/Halloween vase from an old brown vintage vase. I bought the Halloween flowers and couldn’t find a matching vase at home. So I thought I’d just make it myself!
Materials:
Vase
Black Chalk Paint
Matte and Gloss Mod Podge
Glue Gun
Silicone Clay Molds
Brushes
First, apply two coats of black chalk paint to the entire vase. Wait until the first coat is completely dry before applying the second. Once this is completely dry, apply a coat of matte Mod Podge to the vase and let it dry completely.
Then, create the decorations for the vase. Do this by filling your chosen clay molds with the hot glue from the glue gun. Then, let it harden. This happens quite quickly and takes five to ten minutes, depending on the size of the mold.
Next, remove the glue molds from the molds and trim off any unsightly edges with small scissors. Next, glue the shapes onto the vase with a hot glue gun; they should still be quite flexible.
After all the shapes are glued to the vase, let it dry briefly. Then, give the vase one or two more coats of black chalk paint to make sure the glue color is no longer visible.
Let it dry completely and, using a dry brush, lightly apply silver acrylic paint to all the details. You’ll see that this really makes the details pop.
Next, let the vase dry completely again and, as a final step, apply a coat of glossy Mod Podge to secure everything and give it a nice finish. Let the vase dry completely.
That’s it! Really super easy. Let me know if you plan on making this vase too? Or do you have any other ideas?
